CWICR Material Substitution Cost Analyzer

A supplier or subcontractor proposes a cheaper material for a CWICR line item, and the unit cost delta looks great on its own — but nobody does the arithmetic at the actual project quantity, and the tradeoff the sub mentioned in passing (shorter warranty, lower fire rating, longer lead time) gets lost by the time the number reaches the person who has to sign off on it.

The skill takes each CWICR-coded line item's current material and unit cost alongside one or more proposed substitutes with their unit cost and a performance tradeoff note in the user's own words, calculates the cost delta at project quantity for every candidate, flags any candidate whose note mentions something like an approval, a code angle, a rating, or a warranty/lead-time hit, and ranks every candidate by net savings after subtracting any added cost the user notes, such as extra fireproofing or additional submittals.

It does not replace a code-compliance or engineering approval process, and the skill says so directly: it has no knowledge of building codes, fire ratings, acoustic standards, or structural requirements — it only flags what the user themselves typed as needing review, quoting their own words back rather than judging the concern. Every candidate, flagged or not, still needs sign-off from the architect, engineer of record, or code official before it moves forward.
