A Revit model contains an enormous amount of structured information: family parameters, levels, views, quantity schedules, MEP systems, project phases. With the right workflow, that information can turn into technical documentation almost automatically using AI.
This framework sets out how to extract Revit model data into AI-processable formats (schedules exported to Excel, parameter text, drawing notes), how to structure the prompts to generate documentation consistent with the model's data, and how to integrate that flow into the BIM team's usual work process.
The most developed use cases: generating the finish schedule from the model's families, drafting the updated design report ahead of each documentation submission, generating MEP system spec sheets from the model's parameters, and communications to installers and structural engineers based on data pulled from the coordinated model.
This workflow works, but it depends on someone on the team keeping it running: deciding what to export from the model, keeping prompts updated, repeating it on each submission.
